And according to the UN, the world generates over 50 million tonnes of e-waste each year, with only about 20% of this waste being recycled. We can increase this percentage and prevent environmental damage by learning sustainable practices and using efficient approaches to enhance business processes that contribute to a circular economy. ## **Promoting a Net Zero Culture in the IT Sector: A Business Perspective** Your carbon footprint refers to the amount of greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere due to human activity, including the use of technology. Businesses can reduce their carbon footprint and help advocate a [net zero](https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6569cb331104cf000dfa7352/net-zero-government-emissions-roadmap.pdf) culture by taking simple actions. One of the most important steps is to prioritise the reduction of e-waste by reusing or recycling hardware. Lead, mercury, and other toxic materials can all be found in electronic products and if they’re not disposed of correctly, these materials can constitute a threat to human and environmental health. Electronic recycling allows for the safe recovery and reuse of previously discarded materials with the added benefit of reducing the demand for new raw resources and the volume of trash sent to landfills. Additionally, you can choose sustainable materials and promote energy efficiency in operations. We can make significant strides towards a net zero future by implementing these practices and committing to sustainable sourcing and manufacturing. ## **Our Strategy to Help Achieve Carbon Efficiency** Our organisation's strategy is simple yet meaningful. We believe that reducing our carbon footprint is essential to preserving our planet for future generations, and we want to do our part in making that happen. Our engineers work hard to refurbish hardware into like-new condition with a guarantee of optimal performance. By purchasing from us, you’ll be reducing the need for brand-new IT hardware manufacturing, which contributes a substantial amount to the planet's carbon footprint. Alongside this, if you have [redundant hardware](https://bytestock.com/trade-in/), we’re happy to take it off your hands and offer you credit towards your purchase. From an economic perspective, purchasing refurbished IT hardware can save you a significant amount of money. Refurbished items usually cost less than new products while still providing high levels of performance and functionality. This is especially enticing for organisations that maintain a large fleet of devices. We also offer [rental](https://bytestock.com/financing-rental/) of hardware, which is more cost-efficient for our customers than buying outright. ## **Taking the Stride into Carbon Neutrality** Choosing to purchase refurbished hardware can help to conserve natural resources, reduce electronic waste, and promote digital inclusion. Taking a sustainable approach to IT is not only good for the environment but can help your company's reputation and stimulate innovation. Organisations that use sustainable practices can attract and retain employees who want to work for organisations that share their values.
